This (see photos) was what arrived at my doorstep - I ordered their Kumo Deluxe Lunch. First, let’s talk about the box. Yes, the box. It’s beautiful! It took me back to childhood when relatives brought home beautiful souvenirs from Japan - I have always loved their beautiful presentations in almost everything! Just when I thought it’s all looks and no substance, boy was I wrong. This meal, is like finding that perfect someone with the looks, substance, and personality - it’s rare but when you find one - it leaves you completely satisfied, just like this meal! Let’s start with the meat: Their teriyaki chicken is dark meat - YES! Thank goodness, that’s how it should be. It bas a slight smoky charred flavor almost like yakitori, sooooo good. The galbi - I wasn’t sure what to expect as this is a Japanese restaurant not Korean - it didn’t disappoint, it was tender and flavorful, very good! The tempura was authentic and simply delicious, it stayed warm and crunchy through the 5 mile delivery. It came with proper dipping sauce - and before you think “of course it would”, I can tell you first hand that is definitely not a guaranteed especially delivered! The sushi roll was soft and scrumptious, so good. With a final sip of the cozy miso soup, I was smiling ear to ear. The Kumo Deluxe Lunch was the ultimate bento box, it bundled all my favorites into one perfect meal - sure you can find teriyaki/tempura/sushi bento, but this bento includes galbi too - 10/10 recommend! Since Jerry opened Kumo Sushi late last year, my wife and I have enjoyed dozens of meals here. By now, we've tried everything on the menu, and we keep coming back because the food is that great. Tonight was a special evening. We asked him a couple of weeks ago if he was able to bring in a geoduck/mirugai for us to try. We'd first seen it years ago, but it is not common on sushi menus, likely because it is quite expensive. What he brought to our table was a plated extravagance and what is likely a once in a lifetime experience for us. Not only did we receive the entire geoduck prepared as nigiri and sashimi, but he offered us the liver, too, along with some Uni (sea urchin) and Toro (bluefin tuna belly), edible flowers and perilla leaves, and a bit of squid salad. The meal was lavish and as has been our experience, Jerry and his team really work hard to offer great service and great food. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
