What we had:
1. Grilled Scallops- 10 pieces of grilled scallops with garlic butter and cheese. It was surprisingly good. A little on the rich side because of the butter that somewhat drowns the freshness of the scallops, but it tasted good nevertheless
2. Relyenong Talong- This was a bit of a let down for me. It was thin with finely minced meat sauteed in onions and tomatoes intertwined with a single eggplant. It wasnt bad, but I wished there was more of the eggplant. It is relyenong "talong" after all.
3. Pinakbet - loved this. There was A LOT of squash in the dish, which is great, the ampalaya wasnt overwhelmingly bitter and the bagoong was sweet-salty which complements well with the fresh vegetables.
4. Dinuguan- there was no BS or twist in this dish. It was well-balanced. The savory, tangy flavor was in there.
5. Ginataan bilo-bilo-HARD to find in restaurants. It's actually nice that they offer filipino merienda. It was good flavor-wise, the texture was a bit on the soft side, bordering mushy. But it had great coconut and langka flavor, which WAS NOT overwhelmingly sweet.
Overall, surprised with the food. It's kind of hsrd to market filipino food with all the restaurants now with the different twists. But this place serves no-BS filipino food which isn't too hard on the wallet. ????????????
