The ambiance was great, and it’s a very cozy place. The service was excellent. A glass of wine costs €12, which is quite overpriced because the wine itself was just okay. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €30–40

Don’t get fooled by the beautiful decor - it is the only good thing about this place plus the charming street it is on. We made a mistake trusting Condé Nast article of best places in Rome according to the local and regretted that decision. When we tried to make an online reservation, the place was booked. So we called the place and got a table. Happy that we were able to “score the reservation”, we went only to discover that the place was completely empty. Despite the place being empty, the service was slow, it took us 20 minutes just to get the water and finally place the order. The waitress could care less about the service - forget about getting any recommendations from her, we were lucky she remembered we were there ( again, there were 3 tables only and it was 9 PM - prime time for dinner ) . The food was just as mediocre as the service: The amber jack was dry, the sad splash of deep—fried zucchini should have been taken out of the fryer several minutes earlier. That joke of a dish was 32 euro. Salad was too cold, wine by the glass - less than average. The prices - completely unjustified. What a disappointing experience. Won’t return and don’t recommend. And Condé Nast: shame on you, rest assured I’ll be cancelling my subscription. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €100+

Osteria La Segreta was a wonderful way to spend our final evening in Rome The setting is beautiful. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere that perfectly complemented the surrounding neighbourhoods. If you are looking for a quiet and authentic dining experience, this certainly delivers. The food was excellent throughout. The quality of the ingredients, presentation, and flavours were all first class. It is on the pricier side, but as it was our last night in Rome, we decided to treat ourselves, and we were not disappointed. Service overall was good, attentive without being intrusive. The only slight negative was our interaction with the sommelier. After opening the wine, he rather abruptly pushed the cork towards my nose to smell. As someone who enjoys wine, I would have appreciated a brief explanation of the wine’s origins, characteristics, and what aromas to look for, rather than a somewhat theatrical display accompanied by a few noises and grunts. It felt a little more performance than hospitality. That said, this was a minor point in what was otherwise a very enjoyable evening. Excellent food, a beautiful setting, and good service. We left with wonderful memories of our final night in Rome and would happily recommend Osteria La Segreta to others visiting the area.
