L'Ane Rouge is pretty near Place Ile-de-Beaute. Explore the world of French cuisine here. Spend a nice time here and share perfectly cooked bouillabaisse, lobster risotto and amuse bouches with your friends. The truth is that you will really enjoy tasty parfait, soufflés and crumble. It's nice to try good white wine, wine or michelada. According to the guests' opinions, waiters offer great coffee.

SO. What’s on the plate is good unoriginal, but tasty. This restaurant was, and is no longer. Outdated decor.. old-fashioned waiter.. music and poor quality sound... half of the restaurant not set up with loose chairs... In short, not at all a fashionable address nor trendy cuisine I can just recognize that the dishes are tasty too salty! I'm not the first to say it... so I can't recommend going there. Sorry.

My husband and I were offered a Wonderbox (gift certificate) to be used at any restaurant of our choice. A friend recommended L'Ane Rouge. With Wonderbox there's a fixed menu - that is to say, the restaurant chooses the menu. It was frankly delicious. I'm not normally a fan of fish or seafood so I have to warn you that the menu was seafood-based. But to be fair, the restaurant uses local products and is located on the sea, so...duh. We had, in order, an "amuse bouche" which was delightful, followed by a cold thai shrimp soup (I'm "meh" at best about shrimp but it was good, trust me) cannelloni stuffed with a mix of cod and pollock and other delicious things. Then came cod with spring vegetables and cardamom sauce (wow!), finishing with a light and fresh fruit dessert with vanilla bourbon cream. We supplemented our meal with a bottle of excellent Sancerre. The service was good too, professional and attentive. I live in the area and I'd like to add that I speak French and my husband is French, but I have a feeling that you would still receive good service even if all you can manage is a nice "Bonjour, merci" and pointing at the menu. The prices were completely correct for a quality restaurant during high season in a touristic area.
