The club practice is a severe violation of Section 19 of the German General Equal Treatment Act (Allgemeines Gleichbehandlungsgesetz - AGG). Under German civil law, contractual freedom (Vertragsfreiheit) is explicitly limited by anti-discrimination provisions. Denying access to a public establishment based on racist criteria or nationality is illegal.

On 21 March, between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM, I was refused entry to LT Club Rostock despite showing my Wismar University student ID and residence permit, the same ID I have always used to get in previously. I am now enrolled at the University of Rostock, but was told by a young staff member that his boss does not allow students who are not from Rostock University to enter. This is inconsistent, unfair, and feels like discriminatory treatment. I have been allowed entry under identical circumstances before. A club that welcomes students should ensure fair and equal treatment for all, regardless of which university they attend or their background.
