Of the eight restaurants to choose from in March of 2024 on the all inclusive at Villa Del Palmar this is the one to skip. You will be much happier with Room Service (seriously the room service is awesome). This was the last place we tried and we had high hopes, having had great experiences at all the others. NOPE... Starts out with moldy smelling water (should have left then) followed by some of the worst steak we've ever seen. Not only were all the steaks prepared wrong with some over cooked and some under cooked but there were the most gristly nasty cuts of beef I've seen. We eat steak on the regular. Often its just a quick NY or Ribeye from Walmart...the steak at La Casona looked like someones old dairy cow died of old age. Full of gristle and fat deposits beyond where you want them.... YUCK. Do what ever you can to get into Bocados at Garza Blanca next door... its amazing. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: MX$100–200 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3

Our second time at Villa Del Palmar and our first opportunity to try La Casona STK. For being with a party of 12, the service was above my expectations. My Appetizer's: Clam chowder soup-5 stars Beef Tartare-4 stars Pork Belly-5 stars My Entree's: Tenderloin-4 stars tender but no flavor Short Ribs- 3 stars very tough Shared Desserts: Apple Tart-5 stars great crust, great taste Creme Brûlée-3 stars Carrot tart-4 stars For a really classy place, I think I'm being generous with my rating. I feel that a place like this needs to pay attention to the small details of flavor and proper cooking temps. As steak seems very easy to cook, it can actually be the hardest to get the perfect doneness every time, but I think they should be able to get it right since this is what they do every day.
