This restaurant is set in a 5-star hotel Bahia Real. The English language skills of the staff are limited. Ambience is almost set in what-would-be small  palace ballroom 400 years ago, consistent with the uniform of the wait staff here. Still elegant even though a bit touristy and stuffy. The dishes that were improvised for us were EXCELLENT: Prickly pear gazpacho: because I was allergic to prawns, they customized this for us by substituting with mango, cucumbers, and onion instead. The result was divine - would highly recommend it. The prickly pear was not sweet at all with a super smooth consistency and freshness (without the acidic aggressiveness of the usual tomato version) I didn't see a cheese plate on the menu and asked if they could make one with hard cheeses to pair with my Ribeira de Duoro. And a fabulous presentation of cheeses emerged with 3 local goat cheeses. Delicious! SOLID: Ceviche: fresh fish. The foam didn't do much for me. Mango custard dessert: this one is actually better without the mango pour over which is a bit sweet. SKIP: Steak tartare: lacking taste (I asked for capers to spruce up the taste and a salad dressing came out instead) and chewy. Feels like one is tasting something straight from the butcher shop without too much care in the balance of taste. Recommendation to restaurant : Give some free reins to the chefs (cooking every day) to reinvent the menu and listen to the customers closely on feedback.
