Heritage Square in Oxnard is a true hidden gem, and in the midst of this incredible historical village sits perhaps the best Italian Restaurant in Ventura County, LA Dolce Vita (soon to be 1901 Bistro). The atmosphere is unique to say the least, situated in a gorgeous old home; the setup is 1st class, the dining, fine and the service exceptional!!!! The food - oh, the food!!! We are transplanted New Yorkers & Italian food is our "soul food" - the food here stands up to these super high standards & was perfect. We had Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Picatta & Seafood Linguini & all were excellent, especially the Linguini; you MUST start with the Grilled Artichoke- one of the best we've had in a long long time. If there was a sixth star available for character we would give it because the family of the owners were sitting next to us & they were all wonderful as well - so the restaurant has great character, the setting has great character, the food has great character & the people/service have great character too!!! DO NOT pass this place up - and BTW an epic speakeasy sits below the restaurant with a great drink list many of which are Available at the restaurant. Manja!!!
