I love coming here on my cheat days. The owner may come off as rude when you first meet him but keep in mind that he has a weird sense of humor. He is a great guy, always remembers me and makes sure to keep my pizza warm because he knows i come in late. Always talks to me no matter how many people are in his restaurant. The pizza is great, its sweet (weirdly) but has enough salt/flavor that it hides the sweetness. The crust is great, not oily like other pizza places. Cant beat $7 medium size cheese pizza and the lunch special is pretty cheap too. Keep in mind that the slices are pretty big so yo get a bang for your buck.

Today, I was driving down Miami Ave in downtown near Macy's having just left court a few blocks away. It was raining. There was construction at the intersection of Flagler. I got stuck at the light for a while. Then I saw it... La Dolce Vita Pizza. What had been gone from my life in the Gables, having turned into a decrepit Subway, was back in downtown Miami. For years, my girlfriend, then wife and then kids and I enjoyed Phillip's pizza, sandwiches and pasta in Coral Gables when he had his shop on Douglas Road between Bird Road and Coral Way.. I am thrilled that he is back on my radar and no longer galavanting around Italy breaking hearts. I only wish I had known sooner. I will definitely pull my bigger suits out of storage.
