A very friendly host recommending a very nice red wine (Côtes du Forez), accompanied by some sausage and cheese and an interesting selection of music. What more to ask for? Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

During a brief visit to Rennes and whist mooching around Place des Lices, I was lucky enough to spot a little bar called ‘La Grappe’. Wow, what a wonderful and fortuitous find - the bar was super cosy and the proprietor, Laurent Jouffe, was a very hospitable and engaging host with a keen knowledge of wines. Good local beer too Very pleasant refuge and without doubt, one of the most charming bars in Rennes. Wonderful - highly recommended! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
