Several times a year, we make the 1-hour drive to eat the Pépiniaire's famous homemade frozen Vacherin. Honestly, the service has never been great and we are seeing significant turnover! But yesterday it was catastrophic.... no one welcomed us so we sat at an empty table. The waiters pass by without looking at us for 10 minutes. Finally someone comes to give us the dessert menu. We wait another 10 minutes for the order to be taken. 5 minutes later they bring us coffee and cold chocolate but not the Vacherins...we consume our drinks and time passes....new customers arrive...4 tables which in the end are served before us and certain also took Vacherins...finally I go to the counter to ask if they haven't forgotten us? The waiter and the owner were immediately very unpleasant, saying that it was Sunday and that there was no stress and that otherwise we should just leave. That they are overwhelmed, that they only have one pastry chef and blah blah blah and blah blah blah When I say that other tables are served before us, the boss replies that the order tickets are placed on top of each other!!!! No consistency and just a huge lack of respect for customers! A disorganized service to say the least! It was enough to say 2 words of apology and bring us this Vacherin... so things are going very badly here, it's not tomorrow the day before that they're going to see us again! This is the problem with restaurants who think that everything is a given! Very disappointing! We celebrated our wedding in June at La Pépinière and I have absolutely no regrets. The exterior is splendid for the reception, the interior very pretty and quite spacious. The service is impeccable and the food excellent. The staff and the owner are very friendly! Only downside, the air conditioning would really be a plus, especially for dance evenings such as a wedding... Nevertheless, this restaurant is to be recommended without hesitation!!!
