La Rana is always our go-to when we are in Decorah. It's perfect for a lunch with the kids or a date night. Our last visit was date night. My husband had the tuna, he said it was prepared perfectly. I had the panzanella salad, my favorite. Light, refreshing, and so flavorful. As mentioned, get a reservation. The small atmosphere really makes this place special. Don't change La Rana, you are doing it all perfectly! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

From a critical standpoint, La Rana Bistro offers the best restaurant food in Northeast Iowa. Their fresh, locally sourced ingredients are expertly crafted into seasonal, creative dishes presented with casual, subtle elegance. Their entrée, dessert, and drink menus are well-balanced. The bistro's ambiance is pleasant. Rubaiyat offers more impressive service, and a few other restaurants offer the best food in particular genres, but La Rana is undoubtedly the best restaurant overall, standing on the strength of the taste of their food. My main criticism is for the one mixed drink I've had there, "The Frog." I tried it on two separate occasions and both times it tasted quite bad, almost undrinkably soapy. I won't be having their cocktails again, but I'll gladly return for the rest. Service: Dine in Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4
