We had deliberately not chosen a chain for tapas, because you don't want to end up at la cubanita for tapas. The environment is nice. Restaurant is not overcrowded, there are enough staff. Sangria comes quickly and is tasty. Before we look at the menu I order some bread with aioli and pesto. That's disappointing. the bread is fresh, the aioli ok, but the pesto is that sad supermarket junk that doesn't taste like anything. Furthermore, the steak. it has a good taste, the vegetables served with it are tasty, but unfortunately the meat is tough. baked too long. The gambas al ajillo are good. The calamari are those chewy tasteless thin things, served without the stated aioli. Mushrooms are as they should be, but also too salty. Then the albondigas, meatballs. dry and salty. except for one, which was not rolled too tightly. but salty. Fortunately the chickpeas, a welcome change from all the salt, well seasoned. Finally the salmon. Piece-fried just like the steak. and very salty. The rosé? really delicious. Later back to the hotel, right on the water. very dry mouth from all the salt. Too bad: use about half the salt and remember that a tapa-sized piece of meat or fish only needs 40 seconds on both sides and the whole experience would have been much nicer. except for the pesto and the calamari. they could not have been saved.
