Something special happens in the food of West Africa. You get flavours coming together in ways that are seldom found in most of the rest of the world. The kinds of things that happen only in major trade hubs; it is the like of the food of southeast Asia like that, like the food of Singapore or Malaysia. It bursts with culture, religion, and everything that gets left behind by the mercantile system: bits and pieces which fall into place in a way which is exquisite, which is unique, which is sublime. Le Petit Dakar lets that happen in your mouth, in Victoria, for prices that are so cheap by local standards it's amazing. You get roasty, rich, peanutty flavours which are bright, which are fruity, which are complicated, and light. You get things which are sour and hearty. You get textures and tastes which are dry, but indulgent, luxurious, comfortable. Eat it. Everything is good. Everything is special. Everything is right. Everything is cheap. This place is a delight. Share in it. Get some in your face immediately. You must.
