Quebec City Convention Centre is a great attraction for tourists who come to eat at this restaurant after long walks. At Restaurant Le Veau d'Or, you will be served French and Italian cuisines. After four nights in Quebec city, we were tired of eating in places that were over-priced, aimed at tourists and a bit of a disappointment. Then we found this place on our last evening. It looks like a no frills family run restaurant but it was cosy. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the staff fantastic. Would definitely come here again if we found ourselves back in the city.

This place had film-like perfect atmosphere. Perfect lighting, very cozy. This part of Quebec is exactly like taking a European vacation without leaving the continent and this restaurant is no exception. They offer a three-course prix-fixe menu win addition to a la carte options. We three all opted for the special. My wife and I and our friend all started with the cream of asparagus soup. They both had chicken scaloppini and I had the veal liver. The meat was tender and came smothered with a wonderfully rich brown gravy. All mains came with choice of mashed potatoes, rice or fries and side salad. The food was very comforting. It reminded one of a home cooked meal by a favorite grandmother. All the flavors were exactly right. Nothing especially fancy but still a delicious and perfectly presented. I had a gin martini that was nicely balanced. My wife enjoyed the red house wine. We had a little fruit salad and some creme brûlée for dessert. The staff were young and friendly. The prices are about 2/3 what the rest of the local places charge. All around it was the perfect meal to have on a chilly rainy night. My wife described this place as a real gem. I agree.
