Love the laksa! If you could add a little more santan (coconut milk), the taste would be absolutely spot on. Meal type: Lunch

Last weekend in Malacca, we stayed just a short walk away from Leoca Cafe. After dropping off our luggage, we wasted no time and went straight into full “food hunting mode.” That’s when a Thunder Rice poster caught my eye - one of my ultimate comfort foods. No hesitation, we walked right in. From the moment we stepped inside, we were warmly greeted by the lady boss, Catherine. The café instantly gave off a homely, almost “visiting a friend’s house” vibe - cozy, clean, and nicely cooled from the Malacca heat. It’s the kind of place you just want to sit, relax, and enjoy a good meal. Thunder Brown Rice. This bowl was a total winner. Packed with fresh, vibrant vegetables and paired with a thick, flavourful soup that ties everything together beautifully. Every spoonful felt wholesome yet incredibly satisfying - comfort food at its best. Mee Hoon Kueh (Dry). The texture of the kueh was just right - soft with a slight bite, not too mushy or firm. Tossed in a fragrant sauce that clings perfectly to each piece, making every bite rich and savoury. Simple, but done very well. On weekends, they also offer a selection of handmade traditional kueh such as chai kueh, hee ban, ma lai kuih, and egg tarts. I tried the chai kueh, and honestly - it was love at first bite. The skin was light and delicate, with a flavourful filling that made every bite so satisfying. I was even tempted to bring some back to Singapore, but Catherine shared that these are only available on weekends. So do take note - if you’re heading back over the weekend, pre-ordering is a must. Trust me, this is not something you’ll easily find back home. Before leaving Malacca, we made one more stop at Leoca Cafe to pack food for the family - 2 Thunder Rice (soup packed separately) and 2 Mee Hoon Kueh (sauce packed separately). Because honestly, good food is meant to be shared. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
