This was another exceptional food experience from our brief visit to Rennes. An on-the-spur-of-the moment booking after finding an old Guardian article on Rennes by the owner, we would thoroughly recommend a visit. Based on Breton dishes but with a twist, the food was excellent and fantastic value for their discovery menu. Even better was the paired wine tasting at €25 - I usually avoid these like the plague -in my experience they are often an excuse to pass cheap wines at a vastly overinflated price - this was excellent value, went really well with all the courses and led to some surprises. I now know that a very decent chardonnay is produced close to St Malo! The restaurant is casual and welcoming and, as an added bonus, we had a chance to chat to the owner about the article in the Guardian. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €70–80

We came here for lunch after the restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel, and we were immediately attracted by the menu, which offers some really unusual and interesting combinations. We started with octopus served with kimchi and rice rolls. It was delicious, with a pleasant spicy kick. We then had the chicken with French fries, which was incredibly flavorful, especially thanks to the exceptional sauce. The cod was also very good. The dishes are not only delicious but also beautifully presented and quite spectacular to look at. The sauces in particular were outstanding, and it is clear that the chef is very talented and knows how to bring out the best in each dish. We also ordered two cheese plates, which were good, but the real surprise was the “café Madeleine”. We were served an entire tray of small freshly made madeleines accompanied by salted-butter caramel sauce. They were absolutely delicious — soft, delicate, and literally melting in our mouths. A wonderful and unexpected way to finish the meal. The coffee was good as well, and the lunch menu offers excellent value for money considering the quality and creativity of the food. The price was more than reasonable for such a lovely lunch in Rennes. The staff were also friendly and courteous. Overall, a creative and delicious dining experience with excellent cooking, beautiful presentation, and truly exceptional desserts.
