I never thought I'd be writing a 1 star review for Libby Hill, but it has gone so far down hill, that it doesn't even resemble what it was at one time. This and Stamey's has been one of my family's and extended family's favorite places to eat for as long as I can remember. We have even been friends and neighbors with the owners for years, until he passed away a while back. Since then, the menu has a fraction of what it was. The prices keep going up and the quality and quantity keeps going down. We went there today and the fish tasted and looked like it had been frozen and thawed several times, and fried in grease that hadn't been changed in days. We asked to see the manager and our waitress told us that they had already left, but that we could talk to somebody else. Whoever this "somebody else" was, came out and looked like he could care less. His response was "well we could have remade the fish". They had already done that and it was worse than what they had brought before. He never did take anything off of the bill or offer to fix anything. When we got up to the register he literally looked at my mom like he couldn't wait for her to leave. I've never seen somebody representing any business, be so rude. We left with greasy fingers and a bad taste in our mouth, both literally from the fish, and figuratively from the horrible experience. We will not be going back. They need to go ahead and just shut this place down.

I think this place is not really ready for dine in. I ordered a grilled shrimp platter that came with hushpuppies, 1 side and coleslaw. I tried to substitute a real salad for the coleslaw for an upcharge but was informed they didn't have the fresh salad. I had sweet tea for a beverage and it was very good. My side of fried okra was pretty good. The hushpuppies were just ok but not cooked uniformly. The coleslaw was just what I thought it would be which is why I would have preferred the fresh salad. Lastly, my grilled shrimp were so tough that I could hardly chew them. Terrible. The service was good so no problem there. I will give them time to get up to speed and try again in a few months. That crazy pandemic has lots of businesses scrambling to get their game back.

I wanted to give more stars but that would be unethical. I’m a customer of the one off of Battleground. I’ve always enjoyed it. The staff is nice so I will give them 2 stars at this location. That’s about it. The building is old and outdated. They close at 3pm on Sunday. I had some super nasty hair in my food. The portions were extremely small. They had a 96.5 sanitation grade, but the restaurant was visibly dirty. Even with all of that, I don’t want to give it a 1 star because the food that I ate before the nasty hair was ok. We purchased this for my mom for Mother’s Day. (2 days after, due to early closing on Sunday) She was pleased with it so that keeps me from dropping down to a 1 star review. Overall, I’d rather not go back, but I would if I had to. Just because my mom enjoyed it.
