Based on the reviews, I was hoping for a quiet sit-down restaurant where I could eat dinner after a long day. Liberty Tavern is a hotel bar that serves food, not a restaurant with a bar. All the tables/chairs are either bar stools or lounge / occasional chair height (think like you're at your toddler's preschool). The atmosphere is friendly but loud; their menu is limited and they do not accept substitutions. I finally decided on the pot pie, which was generous with the chicken and had a good flavor of gravy, but their "savory vegetables" are carrots and peas and their crust is deliciously buttery but definitely not flaky. If someone else asked me to eat at Liberty Tavern again, I wouldn't object, and if we were in a tiny suburb it might rank higher, but I'm in Chicago of all places so I do have higher expectations. It is very conveniently located for a quick meal if you are short on time. Staff is responsive and wait times are short. Seemed a little pricy for what I got.
