One of the best hidden bars in all of Tokyo. Mukaiyama-san is genuinely one of the most hospitable and welcoming people you’ll ever meet. An amazing selection of whiskies and also amazing cocktails in a wonderful space, there’s nothing more you could ask for. Wonderful service that’s attentive but not overbearing. If you’re not visiting here, you’re missing out; do yourself a favor and come visit. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Excelsior! It is a whisky and cigar experience with a uniquely Japanese twist. There is no menu but Naotaka produces a wonderful cocktail based on your tastes. We primarily enjoyed Japanese whisky based cocktails. Note: It is a low light environment. Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Bar Liquid Ruby was such a unique experience. It’s so extremely dark that you can’t even see the back bar, and there’s no menu to choose from—you just go with what the bartender recommends. The prices, though, for some older Scotch and bourbon are extremely reasonable, especially for something like Springbank 25. Personally, I would’ve preferred being able to see everything and ask about more bottles, but it started getting crowded when I went. Still, the vibe is incredibly unique, and the overall experience really stands out.
