Great gumbo with nice size portions! Never gotten a bad meal or service here. My boyfriend and I like to go out to get gumbo all the time. Since it's just the 2 of us we don't like making a big pot of gumbo and buying all of the ingredients when it is cheaper and easier to go out. The gumbo at Little Daddy's Gumbo bar looked really pretty. It was a dark chocolate brown. I really wanted to like it. It came in a huge portion too. I tasted it and it was thin and very bland. I tried putting Tabasco in it and it tasted just like Tabasco. I think it didn't have enough roux or something but it is very dark. They also didn't put enough meat. I would much rather pay more and get more meat. My boyfriend got 2 oysters and 3 shrimp in his big bowl of gumbo. I did not like the meat. I thought the sausage was ok but the chicken was tough, perhaps they could have used bone in thighs. But the worst offender was the prime rib. There is a reason that prime rib is not a traditional addition to gumbo. The prime rib was really flavorless and tough. Nobody wants a big flavorless chunk of meat in their soup. Pot roast would have been way better but I still would not have wanted it in my gumbo. That dish doesn't go well with beef. If they wanted to elevate gumbo crab would have really worked.
