Amazing! Absolutely brilliant!!! The best meal out we have enjoyed in month, if I'm being honest. I want to start my raving with the crab cakes. They were, by far, THE best I've ever eaten, and I will try them on every menu of every restaurant we visit. Go just for the crab cakes and you will not be disappointed. I sampled a special of their in house smoked salmon deviled eggs, and by Dog, if that wasn't as equally delicious. Well done, Chef! The Rockfish with butternut squash, mushrooms, chili oil, and a horchata sauce was brilliant, and another winner in their already impressive menu. I can't rave enough about this place, and I haven't even mentioned the wonderful view of such a historic harbor! Do yourself a favor and plan a visit to Newport just for this dining experience. Sometimes you run across a place that 5 stars just seems too little. Local Ocean Seafoods is one of them. A lucky experience 8 years ago allowed us to cross paths with the best fish and chips I have ever had and after our most recent visit the other day I am finally getting in my review. It’s one of those dishes that will ruin your ability to order anywhere else. So perfectly prepared. Seasoned to perfection. The fish cooked to a perfect flaky amazingness. The breading so perfectly encrusting this amazing piece of fish. I have returned here three times over the past 8 years. Always eager to indulge in this dish. Each time slightly more amazing than I remembered. And of course sharing it with others is even better. This trip the family joined. And their joy was the same as mine. Each dish was packed with flavor. And of course they have some of the best strawberry lemonade you can find. Yes it is worth the drive. Come alone or bring the family. You will not be disappointed. The only disappointment will come if you live far away and have to dream of your next visit for their amazing fish and chips. Fantastic food!!! Very nice service. One BIG negative is that, unlike most restaurants, they don't tell you in advance that they add on a 20% tip!! Yes, this information is included when they bring the bill. However, after being so sedated by a delicious meal and a micro brew or two, it is easy to miss this!! I guess its a sign of the times since, in the past, only bigger, family style restaurants would automatically add the 20% tip to the bill.
