Not a restaurant! It's a wine bar with some fancy and pricy small plates of food. you will not get a meal. The outside seating is a single table. The most mediterranean part of it is tomatoes. If you understand this you will probably have a great time, if you read their own description you wont.
We were really excited to get into one of our favorite restaurants in Portland, but the quality and care for this restaurant has certainly gone down the tubes! Our dinners were so tasteless and just Not Good! It took us a while to figure out what we were going to order, because the menu was unexciting. Then the food arrived and I can’t say how disappointed we were with our meals. When you read the other reviews about the Asada, I have to say, we felt the same way too... 2 tiny pieces of lamb with duck fat potatoes that had no flavor at all (how do you mess that up) and some kind of creamed spinach (not good either) definitely not worth the $27 price. My muscles, seems so simple, but they managed to make this unfavorable too. And for dessert what they called a Panacotta, turned out to taste like cream cheese with sesame seeds. All I can say to give this a 1 star is the hostess and waitress were nice, but not enough for us to ever go back. Bummer! My advice to the chef... you should be watching how much food gets scraped into the trash! Best honest feedback if you care to make things better.
After walking around in Munjoy Hill, my friend and I ate here for lunch since they open at 3:30PM in contrast to the other restaurants in the area that open at 4:30. This is a small space, but we didn't have to wait at all. Ambiance is warm, intimate, modern, and cozy. In the lobby, there's a cool art piece of a map of Portland drawn by elementary school kiddos. It adds a nice pop of color to the restaurant. They have plenty of specials on the menu, though I had to avert my eyes as they had grilled rabbit on the menu! I have a pet bunny! Anyway, we started off with some drinks. My friend had the Boss Lady cocktail, very refreshing. They have rosé on tap, which is always a plus in my book. The portion sizes are small here, so we split 3 plates between us. We had the tomato heirloom salad with burrata (fresh, flavorful, soft, and gooey burrata), the wood roasted eggplant, and the bucatini pasta with capers and pecorino. This was definitely my favorite meal of my Portland trip. Everything was just delicious, perfectly spiced, not heavy, and just melted in my mouth. I'm still thinking about that meal. The quality of our food and great service was definitely worth the price of our experience. Lolita is closing in September, so be sure to eat here and enjoy this establishment while you can!
