Visiting this restaurant with a great view of Islas Ballestas will be a positive experience for guests. Being at Los Zombies, order good hamburgers, monkfish and chicken. The friendly staff works hard, stays positive and makes this place wonderful. Fine service is a strong point that plays a great role for the success of this place. Frank was such a hospitable host, so friendly and amazing food. We were staying at the local Viajero and he let us use his van for the quiz challenge which we won. Thank you Frank Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

A picture of Mars. Barren and lifeless windswept peaks of sand fit for a NASA rover’s panoramic photography. The purr of miniature moped motors soothes the ears of Peruvian and gringo alike. Across the road, the children of Paracas prance with a whimsy unmatched even by the picture of a gentle breeze softly blowing dandelion spores across a den of newborn bunnies. Whispers of the last bastion of South American customer service reached our ears jaded by multi-hour waits and ‘no tenamos’. Los Zombies proved to be our lighthouse in the storm of subpar cevicherias that had blighted the night thus far. Taking a seat, we gandered at the myriad 5-star reviews on Google Maps, ogling at the innumerable photos of tongue-tantalising looking scran. Before one could say ‘gringo tonto’, we were greeted by the owner’s 8-year-old daughter, Paola, with such a warmth that the desert landscape was no longer a shock. She took our order (two salchipollos, buffalo wings, and a Ricky Martin), with a deftness of service akin to the best restaurant in the world (Maido, in Lima (also fantastic)). Two swift rounds of Jenga later, with our four gringo protagonists invariably humiliated by the Olympic skill displayed by Paola, the medicinal chiming of footsteps approaching our table finally healed our tired ears. Dinner #4 was served, in a timely manner, with entertainment having been provided, in an atmosphere akin to the scene in a high octane Hollywood picture where the leading characters engage in a tete-a-tete about the fiery sequence prior. Then came the food. When asked to comment, Mr Alshekh provided the following statement: “I was so lost in the salsas I nearly bit my fingers”. Los Zombies was an ethereal experience and one that will stay with me for years to come. A welcome break from the strobes and clatter of the beachfront, it provided us with ample calm, an air of easy laziness that is surprisingly difficult to find in this continent. I am restricted by my tools of rating to only give 5 stars. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
