We visited for lunch a couple of days ago to ascertain whether our previous visit at the end of January had been an unfortunate experience or whether the standard of service had dropped considerably. This is a pleasant venue and the food is very good - as is the lunch menu. We had been there for lunch three or four times the previous year with no issues at all. When we visited in January, it turned out that the only chilled white wine available was a Sauvignon Blanc; neither the Pinot Grigio nor Audrey Wilkinson Chardonnay were cold. We ended up with the Chardonnay and two glasses of ice to help cool it down! On this visit we again ordered the Pinot Grigio. It arrived at the table in an ice bucket but we were informed that the bottle had not been chilled. However, we were told the Chardonnay was cold so we swapped to that. The food service on both occasions was very slow - approximately 45 minutes between ordering and receiving our food. There were only two other patrons in the restaurant on both occasions so no excuse for the delay really. I notice that the reviews of dinner service are very good but, in our experience, the lunch time service is currently pretty hopeless which is a shame. It wasn't like that in 2025. Another quirk was that our ice bucket was given its own dining chair next to the table so presumably a stand for it could not be found.
