This cafe has been in existence for over a hundred years and it's location right in the centre of Beja means you can sit and enjoy a morning coffee and local pastries and chat with the locals. Very friendly staff and great value for money. A lovely way to spend your morning.

The opinion of a true Portuguese person visiting the instirior of the country: this café, featuring a restaurant area on the first floor, offers a quintessential Portuguese experience. It serves high-quality home-style cooking with traditional dishes to suit every taste, and the staff are extremely polite, professional, and—above all—welcoming. A great place to savor authentic Portuguese home-style cuisine.

Luiz da Rocha is an iconic café in Beja, with a unique charm and rich history. Known for its beautiful, classic interior and welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot to experience authentic Portuguese café culture. The pastries are a highlight—especially the pão de rala, a local specialty that’s both delicious and unique. The coffee is excellent, and the friendly staff make you feel at home. If you’re in Beja, stopping by Luiz da Rocha is a must for a taste of tradition and a relaxing break in a historic setting. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
