The Lychee Chinese Restaurant in Peebles is located down a quiet street a few minutes walk from the centre of Peebles. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant would benefit from a few tweaks to create a better atmosphere including lighting that is more aligned to a restaurant and it also needs a big hole in the ceiling fixing as it doesn't make a great impression. I tried a special rice dish and it was ok, the prawn sesame toast was also fine and we tried a couple of wider dishes that were also ok. The rice could be improved with more flavour as it tasted slightly greasy and not quite as fresh as you might expect but overall it was ok. If you're looking for a Chinese in Peebles, give it a go. Price per person: £20–30

I telephoned to order a take away last night. A young girl answered, I had to ask her to repeat what she said, could I wait for a few minutes. The handset was put down but I was able to hear, chatting and laughing, didn't seem to be a customer. Another call came through which wasn't answered, more laughter. The phone rang again it was answered and the order placed. Eventually, the girl picked the handset up I was waiting on and...HUNG UP. I tried to call back a couple of times and no answer.
You lost an order last night. Terrible customer skills. Disappointed is an understatement as the food is great here but staffing does seem to be an issue.
