After three weeks of travelling around Sri Lanka and enjoying some truly wonderful meals, Mendiya Restaurant in Kandy stands out as our absolute favourite. This small, intimate, family-run restaurant delivered the most outstanding dining experience of our trip. The curries were exceptional, with incredible depth of flavour, beautifully balanced spices, and obvious care in every dish. If you’re looking for authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, this is a place not to miss. Without a doubt our top food experience in Sri Lanka. Highly, highly recommended! Its truly hidden gem and not overrated place I have a big determination to try this restaurants after many recommendation when I search place to visit while in Kandy. Turns out this is true definition of local recommendation and not only a tourist place They only sell 1 main menu which is rice and curry, at my time they offer 3 kinds of protein which is beef, fish and chicken. Then they will give you 3 condiments. The taste of the curry was really strong and have kick of spice definetly they are not making the taste softer let say for the tourist. They really give real taste of Srilanka curry During my visit there saw lot of local also eat, location is inside of a building but its very easy to find. You must come to this place for lunch while you visit Kandy Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Just choose rice with the vegetable curry.

Mandiya is a small, slightly hidden spot but absolutely delicious. Everything is prepared right in front of you, which makes the experience even more special. The flavors are local, simple, and beautifully balanced. It’s the kind of hidden gem you love discovering, especially if you’re into real, authentic food experiences.
