My wife and I had a great meal. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing.. Each course was proceeded with an! From the maître D. I kept the food reasonably on time and the wines were well placed for the food. This is one of the best meals I’ve had in years. Such a cosy atmosphere! The restaurant is in what used to be a school a long time ago. The multiple rooms give it a very cosy vibe and also minimise echo and noise. The food was fantastic, especially the ceviche, as well as the service. The cocktails were also fabulous. It was so fun to see my culture being represented so authentically and with so much consideration. HIGHLY recommend. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

High quality and value for money! Located in the city center of Oslo - this is a secret gem. As of mid December 2025, it's still not discovered by the locals. In a few months - I think and hope it will be overcrowded by people due to the quality, atmosphere and value for money. The entrance is anonymous and it is difficult to even notice the restaurant from the outside - only a small sign at the wall beside the the door with the restaurant name (I live in an apartment 200m away, but discovered the restaurant using google maps). Inside however - it's a grand opening! You're welcomed downstairs with kindness and politeness and the receptionist take your name before she guides you upstairs. Before I even noticed the jacket and coat was delivered and the receptionist showed us our table. She welcomed us in a perfect manner, and at the table the waiter shoved up immediately, greeted us and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. The place is stylish, but not flashy. It gives a posh feeling, but the staff is friendly and the vibe is informal. Mix in south american music and the scene is set for a delicious meal. A few seconds later the waiter was back with both sparkling and still water and pored it into the glass and asked us if we wanted to start with some wine, bubbles or drinks. I had been drinking a lot the day before and wanted a regular coke. My wife asked for a drink and the bar manager came to our table. We had decided on the tasting menu before we came (saw the menu at the webpage). I'm a sucker for "oysters natural" and don't really like adding more than lemon, but I can strongly recommend the oysters at Manka. They managed to add sour and sweetnes without losing the minerality of the oysters. The next dish was also excellent. Emilian (a young talented Argentinian waiter) described the cevitche and by the look of the dish we could immediately see it would taste good. It was well balanced and with a little spicy touch to the tiger milk, witch made it work as a "kicker" for the rest of the set menu. The third dish was a potato based dish with Argentinian shrimps and black garlic sauce as a tasty visual touch. Emilian described it more in depth but I don't remember all of it. It was complex and visually very appealing. The main dish was chicken done to perfection. It was juicy and it had Peruvian flavors with sting to it. All the dishes climbed in intensity and spiciness witch made the total experience excellent. The chef himself served the chocolate dessert. Again a masterpiece. He told us that they would have a Spanish gust chef the upcoming week from a michelin star restaurant in Spain. Unfortunately we are out of town the upcoming weekend our else we would have loved to be there. After the full menu we sat down in the bar. Even though we had lots of food we ordered another cevitche because it was so good. The bar manager (Carlos) treated us like family and served a pisco sour and a Estrella on tap. All in all this is must try restaurant. I hope they will stay for a long time and get a lot of customers. Hence the long review. Happy to have Manka as a neighbor!
