Dropped by Maduro as a group of 5 without a reservation on a Saturday night at 10:15pm — safe to say we were quite lucky to have seats! Intimately hidden in Grand Hyatt Tokyo in Roppongi Hills, everything was mystifying; from the walk through the entrance of this luxurious jazz cocktail bar, to the intricate detailing on glass partitions and plush leather seats amid warm dim lights. The beverage menu was extensive; however the majority of it were whisky selections and there were only a handful of selections for cocktail. Cigar options are available as well. Service was top notch as usual. There was a live performance on that day, so we had to speak a little louder amongst each other. But all in all very pleased with our visit. Would highly recommend a visit especially if you: are travelling in a medium sized group want a large selection of whisky options want to have drinks whilst smoking (this is hard to find in Tokyo!!) don’t mind the premium prices! For reference, cocktails are priced around ¥2,750, which is about ~¥500 higher than standard cocktail bars in Tokyo. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I had incredibly high expectations for a bar of this caliber, but my experience at Maduro was a massive disappointment. For a 5-star hotel establishment, the level of service was shockingly unprofessional. Throughout the night, the staff showed zero attention to our table. Even after I explicitly pointed out that I was being ignored and unable to order further drinks, the response was defensive rather than helpful. Instead of taking accountability, the staff offered lame excuses about being busy. Since the bar wasn’t so crowded, there is no excuse for avoiding guests or failing to provide basic hospitality at this price point. Furthermore, there is a distinct lack of consideration for quality, and the communication was a major hurdle. It is unacceptable that staff at a premier international hotel bar can barely speak English, making it nearly impossible to resolve issues or even order effectively. To top it off, the pricing is completely disconnected from reality. Charging 4500 yen for a single glass of standard-grade whisky is predatory when paired with such subpar service. This establishment does not deserve your money. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere—this is not a 5-star experience. Price per person: ¥8,000–9,000 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
