One of the best meals of my life in Japan! I can't remember how many courses were served, only that each single one was sensational. I ended up ordering the sushi platter in addition to the dinner set menu which came with plenty of yummy dishes and I had no issues at all finishing everything because it was SO GOOD! The vibe felt so welcoming and authentic. There's a gorgeous Japanese garden in the centre of the space. I had such a nice chat with the owner Teiko who told me that Okinawa has always been a melting pot between Chinese and Japanese culture and that she's saddened by the current political climate trying to divide people. We were fortunate enough to eat here a few nights ago (June 2019) and we had a truly amazing meal. Their authentic and thoughtful Okinawan cuisine was second-to-none (the staff recommendations were phenomenal), the awamori was delicious, the space was clean, quiet, and nice and the service was excellent. We were fortunate enough to make friends with the owner, Teiko, in the process and she is an amazing woman. I learned more about Okinawa at that dinner than in a week touring around historical sites on the island -- it was truly a special night that my wife and I will always remember. It was a great meal served by great people in a centrally located area in Naha City -- don't miss it. (If you'd like another good full review, google " sakazen maeda " which is the romaji for the name of the restaurant)
