My family and I have been friends of the owners Mei and Hon for years. We found them initially when they had a small location on the west side, before they opened up Mei-Hon's on the east side. We loved it when they re-opened Mae's Chinese Restaurant after closing the original Mei-Hon. Hon, is a great cook, and his best and more authentic dishes are actually the ones he does off of the menu. I could not tell you the name of them as they tend to be based on what he got at the market that morning. One of my favorite family-style dinners that he has made has been the Peking Duck with side steam buns and green onions. My family and I have also enjoyed the Lemon Chicken from the menu though (definitely get this in the restaurant or the crispy chicken can get mushy as take out). We tend to only eat at Mae's when Hon is cooking. Mei is very nice and has always been very dedicated to the restaurant. She also keeps a friendly and attentive staff in the dining room, many of whom we have come to know over the years.
