In the Kyoto dialect, ‘monmona-ryori’ means ‘as it is’. As with ‘kinari-ryori’ in Osaka, fussy over-preparation is avoided. The Osaka-apprenticed chef takes to heart the words of his mentor: ‘light, sweet and deep’, and let the ingredients do the talking... More info

This was an amazing place to experience Japanese food at its finest! Each part of the omakase dinner was a true study in chef creativity, balance and blending of flavors and textures designed to heighten the diner's unique experience. Each part of the meal was also visual masterpiece. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a once in a lifetime food experience. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It’s authentic and every course was perfect. This is why we came to Kyoto. Anthony Bourdain would have been a regular here. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥10,000+

We had a lovely experience at Maeshiro. The food was excellent and the chef and his wife were very welcoming and polite to our group of four Americans. We the [hands down] best tempura vegetables of our two week stay, and all of the other dishes were as good or equally rewarding for their novelty and beauty. The experience was both intimate and fun. We kept our conversation quiet but felt very comfortable. The Chef didn’t mind in the least when we thought a dish was very good and became a bit animated! Would definitely recommend, and will definitely plan to come back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
