This boutique chocolatiers are seemingly everywhere with their mouth-watering selections of traditional basque cherry -filled tarts (Gateaux Cerise Noire) and artisan chocolates. We visited SEVERAL times during our short stay in St-Jean-de-Luz.  We tried (and enjoyed) the cherry tart, macarons, crème cake and the chocolates.  You really can't go wrong here if you like tasty sweet things like us.

This is THE PLACE TO GO if you want to try the original macaron! There is so much history in this area and Maison Adam certainly makes up part of it. I've been here several times now and I remember the first time I bit into these heavenly macarons, I thought I was tasting a fluffy marshmallowy cloud of deliciousness! You can buy them separately or in a package to bring home to family and friends. They also sell fine chocolates that could stand to battle against Belgian chocolates! Do yourself a favor and walk, no RUN, to this little shop of joy.

The Macarons are worth a try! The little tasty almond cakes were invented in 1660 for Ludwig XIV's wedding with Maria Teresia and the recipe has been used ever since.
