Very disappointed with the food. We ordered the chicken roast and another chicken dish which was their speciality apparently. Both dishes were unpalatable not Just taste twice but also the chicken was deep fried and so tough that we had to actually spit pieces out. I'm not certain what cut of chicken they're using but I've never had chicken that's so hard. The Kerala paratha was also a disappointment and almost tasted like a frozen one as it was very rubbery. Overall would not recommend this restaurant. Not sure where all the good reviews are coming from. Food: 1

great first visit, we tried the indo Chinese options of Gobi Manchurian, chicken chachuki, dragon chicken and an unrelated side of malabar fish curry with appams and kerala paratha. all of which were delicious and what most of us would associate with the taste 'back home'. the kerala tea was nostalgia in a cup too, frothy, kadak, slightly sweet and creamy. service was quick and friendly. the 4 person team work like a well oiled machine, steadily churning dishes and hot beverages, the restaurant is managed by one person who efficiently serves all the tables with a friendly smile and calm disposition all the while promoting the menu and clearing dishes. A job very well done! we will be going back to try other dishes on the menu. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–40

My wife and I visited Malabar Magic in Mawson a few days ago and we were genuinely impressed with both the food and the hospitality. We ordered rice, parota, fish curry, chicken paralan and beef fry and every dish was absolutely enjoyable. The fish curry had a very authentic Kerala flavour which really stood out for me. The chicken paralan was my wife’s favourite and the beef fry was cooked perfectly, tender and full of flavour. What made the experience even better was how warm and welcoming the staff were throughout our visit. The hospitality felt genuine from the moment we walked in. I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for good South Indian or Kerala style food in Canberra. Also ask for their "Today’s Special" and give one of those dishes a try.
