After many mediocre touristy experiences in Sri Lanka at places with high ratings, I don’t give out good reviews easily. It took about 20-30 minutes for the food to come out but everything is fresh, farm to table (we literally watched her pull out the veggies from her garden) and delicious. Highlights were the brinjol (eggplant) which had a Smokey spicy flavor, and the leek. Also got the Pattie which was very big and filled with potato and green chilli also from her garden. My only complaint was that I wish there was more brinjol because it was delicious and we finished it in 2 seconds and the curry to rice ratio was a little off. Lives up to its name, a great local spot. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: Rs 1–1,000

Wow, such an amazing restaurant! The vegetables are freshly picked from the garden when you order, Mama cooks everything with so much love and care, and you can feel it in every bite. Enjoying this incredible food with the beautiful mountain view in front of you makes the whole experience unforgettable. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: Rs 1–1,000

If you want a local experience in Ella, this is the place to be! The view is magnificent. It’s run by a very nice family. You can also sleep here in the most cosy huts. And eat (breakfast/ lunch / dinner) in their garden. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
