We came in for dinner on April 12. Let’s start with the positives: the service is stellar. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess and the waitstaff was attentive and courteous. The drinks are also excellent – we each had the house red, which was a generous pour and tasted like a very good Merlot blend. Beyond these bright spots, I’m afraid that the food was terrible with the predominant flavor being salt. For Antipasto, we ordered the olives, artichoke hearts, and housemade sausage. The olives were all green olives brined in water, that tasted like the canned variety. I would have expected a variety of olives brined in olive oil and herbs. The artichoke hearts were non-descript and tasted slightly bland, like they were bottled. The sausage was disappointing – consisting of chunks of ground meat that had been coated in salt and breadcrumbs and deep fried. There was little flavor but that of salt. The Greek salad we ordered featured very fresh greens, but was overall drenched in an extremely vinegary and salty dressing and then covered in far too much feta (perhaps it was our mistake of not ordering dressing and cheese on the side). The “all-day” Bolognese was also disappointing. While the pappardelle was clearly housemade and good, the sauce was awful and consisted of non-descript chunks of ground meat swimming in a clear and very salty broth. There were little flecks of tomato here and there, and no herbs – and the dish was near inedible. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 1 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

Although we do live in the Napa Valley, I can assure you that EVERY restaurant does NOT pick their own olives from the vine and brines them in house. We certainly DO NOT brine our IMPORTED Italian Olives in Water. So I do apologize for your expectations of freshly brined olives! With that said, we also make our sausage IN HOUSE and FRESH, it does NOT have any panko and we do season our food with salt and pepper, again I apologize for your sensitive pallet. I like my food seasoned. Our bolognese is also made FRESH every day and we certainly do not use “non descript” pieces of meat? Again, any authentic bolognese is made with ground beef, pork or veal, all from ground meat. Our bolognese cooks ALL DAY and is hardly watery since there is NO WATER added. Again, I apologize that our authentic Italian food maybe doesn’t live up to your “Olive Garden” standards. As you can see by the 100 other reviews and awards, I think we are doing EXACTLY what my Grandmother would be proud of. More
