Manori’s Kitchen is one of those places I would probably never have found without someone taking me there. My auto driver went down increasingly narrow lanes, eventually stopped and told me I had to walk the rest of the way, and for a brief moment I was reasonably certain I was about to get mugged . Instead, I arrived at what felt less like a restaurant and more like someone’s home that had decided to serve really good food. Service: There isn’t much conventional service here. The food arrived promptly and, when I was done, I walked over towards the house, called out to pay and left. It genuinely feels like being fed at someone’s home. Ambience: A simple thatched-roof dining area completely surrounded by greenery. It’s open-air, so expect flies, ants and bugs. There was also a dog around the property that appeared unwell or injured, which personally made me a little uncomfortable while eating. If you prefer very controlled, spotless restaurant environments, this probably isn’t for you. VFM: 5/5. Around LKR 2,000 for this quantity and quality of food feels like a steal. Overall, wonderfully homely, ridiculously tasty and one of the more memorable rice-and-curry meals of my trip. I genuinely considered going back once more before leaving. Came to the Manori's Kitchen with the high hopes thanks to the great feedback. When we arrived the place was amazing. Nice music playing on the background and great aroma thanks to the scent. We got a big table for 4 and sat on the floor on the beanbags which suited us well. We ordered the drinks and food but that was rather a dissapointment. We waited the drinks for 50min (tea and Sprite) and those arrived together with food. The food wasn't bad, but the chicken curry consisted only one piece of bony chicken. We also waited around 15min for the waiter to order new tea but gave up in the end. Also they had some troubles with the baclground music and bluetooth connection. Overall a good place with great atmosphere, decent food (14€ for 4 persons) but the quality of service could have been better. Price per person: Rs 1,000–1,500 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5
