Ordered pepper chicken roast but received regular chicken roast instead. When I called to let them know, instead of simply acknowledging the mistake, I was told they are “basically the same except for a bit of pepper,” which is simply not true, especially to anyone familiar with Kerala cuisine. While speaking to another staff member in Malayalam, one of the employees also referred to me as “thallachi”(used in a dismissive or belittling way toward a woman) and said I was complaining, assuming I wouldn’t understand because I was speaking English. I am Malayali, and I heard the entire conversation. Once I mentioned that, the tone immediately changed and I received multiple apologies and an offer to correct the order next time. Mistakes happen, and I would have appreciated an honest apology from the beginning. What disappointed me more was the dismissive attitude and the assumption that customers won’t understand what’s being said about them.
