Stopped by to grab a takeaway Souvlaki, it was delicious! Highly recommend. The restaurant was, given the quality of the food, unsurprisingly very busy! Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4

My wife and I visited Maria's Greek Taverna yesterday as my wife had never tried Greek cuisine before. I took her specifically to treat her for her birthday and a work friend of mine recommended this place. My first experience of having Greek food was in Crete in 2017 and since then, I have been a big fan of Greek cuisine but what makes Greek food always special is the love and passion Greek people pour into their dishes more than anything and it goes hand in hand with the nature of Greek people in general - one of the friendliest and most welcoming people on this planet. True to my words, the food that we ordered in Maria's Greek Taverna was top class, the service was beyond excellent, the ambiance was really amazing (really missing Crete now :D) and the people who served us were awesome. I should have taken their names but every staff we saw there were really welcoming, kind and friendly. My wife was absolutely delighted and she thoroughly enjoyed the dishes we chose. Mission accomplished XD This is easily one of the most recommended restaurants in Cardiff. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I can only assume I visited the restaurant on an ‘off night’. Other than my table (6) there was just one other table of 2 who were eating their desserts as we came in . On the basis that all the kitchen had to cope with , was our table you’d think they would easily manage . We almost all ate at different time 4 ( of the 6 ) completely finished their main course ( no one ordered starters ) before the other 2 arrived . Or should I say didn’t arrive . Following the 4 finishing their meals the front of house came out to say he couldn’t serve the remaining 2 meals as they were ‘not up to standard’ . I kid you not . Based on the first 4 meals that did arrive I’m surprised to hear they had any standards ! 1 of the part ordered just a starter the other final person ordered another, different main course and then had to wait a further 20 minutes before it arrived. The whole night was a disaster and by some way my worst experience of eating in various restaurants over the past 50 years . And all this for £215 ….£36 per head and 3 of the party was driving so had little to drink . I’m truly shocked that some of the existing reviews were so far off my own experience .
