Marktküche in Zürich is a vegan establishment that takes plant-based cuisine seriously. The restaurant's ambiance and service are top-notch, and the staff provides excellent care for customers with food allergies or intolerances. The interior design is cozy and inviting, though the outdoor area is less so. The price range is on the expensive side, but the quality of the food justifies it.
Marktküche offers a surprise menu with four to eight courses, each creatively prepared and beautifully presented. Some standout dishes include creamy pumpkin soup with pear sorbet, charred leeks, and hearty Savoy cabbage packets. The wine selection is outstanding and well-paired with each course. Special features include the personal touch of the chef serving some of the plates himself and the changing monthly menu. Overall, Marktküche is a must-try for vegans and non-vegans alike looking for an exceptional culinary experience.

There are good vegan restaurants, and then there are places that completely redefine what a dining experience can be and this is absolutely one of them. From the moment you walk in, you realize this is not just another “healthy” or plant-based spot. Everything feels intentional the lighting, the table setting, the atmosphere, the quiet elegance, and the kind of service that feels luxurious while still being genuinely warm and welcoming. Every dish that arrived at the table looked like a piece of art. But not the kind that’s only beautiful for Instagram and disappointing in taste quite the opposite. The flavors were sophisticated, balanced, and incredibly creative, with high-quality ingredients and techniques that honestly felt Michelin-level. Some restaurants try hard to “prove” that vegan food can be good. Here, there’s no need to prove anything. It’s simply outstanding food. Period. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail. Nothing felt random. Every element on the plate had a purpose, every bite felt thoughtful and refined, and there were multiple moments during the meal where we just stopped and looked at each other like… wow. The atmosphere deserves its own moment too. There’s something very European about it elegant, calm, understated, and effortlessly chic without trying too hard. It’s the kind of place you can sit in for hours, fully enjoy the experience, and feel like you’re part of something much bigger than just dinner. As someone who eats at restaurants around the world, I can honestly say this was one of the most memorable and impressive vegan fine dining experiences I’ve had. A place that doesn’t just live up to the hype it truly deserves it.
