Review of Maroon Restaurant (Moscow, Taras Shevchenko Embankment) Visited Maroon on Taras Shevchenko Embankment. The interior is impressive, with a strong Eastern–Mediterranean aesthetic. Presentation is clean and elegant, and they serve fresh Uzbek tomatoes as a welcome gesture — a nice touch. The food is solid: dishes look refined, ingredients are fresh, and the overall execution is competent. Coffee is average but acceptable. Now the main point — the atmosphere depends heavily on the crowd, and this influences the experience as much as the food. Roughly a third of the guests are women whose behavior strongly resembles that of people looking for financially motivated social encounters. Highly demonstrative, focused on attention and potential “sponsors.” Another significant part of the crowd consists of loud groups with a distinct Caucasian party style. The result is a very specific ambiance: the interior and concept suggest one level, while the overall vibe in the room feels quite different. If you’re looking for a calm lunch, a conversation, or a quiet meeting, it’s important to keep this in mind. The restaurant delivers on food and design, but the overall impression depends greatly on who happens to be in the room. Overall: good food and interior; the crowd is an acquired taste. Final rating: 4/5. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
