Takehisa’s place is really all about the miso. Not the generic, supermarket kind, but the real stuff — rich, deep, slightly funky in the best way, and clearly coming straight from people who know what they’re doing. You taste it immediately, and it kind of sets the tone for everything else. I ate here already several times during my one week stay in Naha. Our cruise ship dock in Naha for only a few hours I did some research the night before and found Marutama, a small local restaurant. When we got on our taxi and told the driver our destination, the driver told us "they have the best Chicken Katsu there". He was % right. We saw a few Locals dining at Marutama when we entered the restaurant. We ordered 4 of their specialty, the Chicken Katsu Set, which came with the best Chicken Katsu ever, cabbage salad, steamed rice and the best miso soup we've had on this trip. I'm giving myself a phat pat on the back for discovering this gem of a restaurant and I give our taxi driver a lot of credit also be he definitely knew what he was talking about about Marutama and their Chicken Katsu.
