Where to begin? The ABSOLUTE BEST dining experience of my life!!! And that is no hyperbole. Granted I have only been to a few fine dining restaurants but this by far blew them out of the water and it's not even close. Coming from Los Angeles I have known of Mastro's for quite a while but never felt compelled to visit. Being out here in Houston for work I have made it a mission to get a true taste, pun intended, of everything this fine city has to offer and boy does this town deliver on the wide variety of cultures and varied eating experiences. Now about the service at Mastro's Ocean Club. It is second to none. Was first greeted and upon my mentioning it was my first time visiting was promptly thanked for my patronage and was asked my name. I unfortunately can't recall the young lady's name but I want to say Kate. (I visited Easter Sunday evening so whomever reads this please pass along my compliments) It's the attention to detail that sets this establishment apart. Don't get me wrong, the food, the cocktails, and ambiance are spectacular but it's the little things like asking your name and following up regularly, without being intrusive, that made me feel like the VIP I am not. Anyway, back to the review, Saul is an absolute artist behind the bar and even though he was rather busy he took the time whenever there was a lull to check in and answer my one hundred questions. I particularly enjoy sitting at the bar because it's the action station; it's a show to go with dinner. Speaking of show, the evening's entertainment was provided by the lovely Celeste who's set list ranged from Rihanna and Alicia Keys to Aretha Franklin and she absolutely slayed every song. I could go on, I really could but like trying to record a lighting and thunderstorm it wouldn't do it justice. Needless to say I will be back for the bone-in filet!
