Masuda is a Japanese restaurant located on Toyouracho Oaza Kawatana, specializing in simple yakiniku-style skewers. This cozy eatery captures the essence of a bygone era with its charmingly retro Showa-period atmosphere. Operating quietly without any recent input from the owner, it appears to continue as a local mainstay for its regular patrons. However, visitors seeking modern or polished settings may not find this establishment to their preference.
The menu at Masuda is straightforward, with a focus on grilled dishes, offering a selection of small plates paired with alcohol and beer. The service is dine-in only, accompanied by traditional table service. It is important to note that payments are accepted in cash only, adding to the old-school experience. Amenities include a basic toilet facility, but accessibility options such as wheelchair access might not be fully supported.
Open from Monday to Saturday between 6 PM and 9 PM, Masuda encourages reservations, suggesting its commitment to serving an intimate clientele. While most comments from visitors point out the authenticity and homeliness, the details shared about cleanliness and service style should be kept in mind. For those venturing into Shimonoseki and craving a taste of traditional Japanese skewers, Masuda remains an intriguing yet cautiously reviewed choice.

Meal type: Other Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
