We decided to try this place, and unfortunately it was a pretty disappointing experience from start to finish. The spritz was easily one of the worst cocktails I have had. It had a strange sesame taste that made it hard to drink. If you are thinking about ordering the ceviche, I would strongly advise against it. It is not really ceviche. It is closer to sashimi, with about six small pieces of fish, barely any dressing, and minimal sauce. On top of that, the fish did not taste fresh. The takimis were just okay, but poorly executed. The wasabi was unevenly spread, so one bite had none and the next was overwhelming and burned your mouth. The rice felt undercooked, and overall the ingredients lacked flavor. Service did not help the situation. We waited about 15 minutes after being seated before anything was properly set on the table, and there was no sense of urgency at all. The ambiance is very basic, the music was unpleasant, and the whole place felt empty and lifeless. The only decent part of the experience was the Old Fashioned, which is hard to get wrong. Even something as simple as chips was disappointing. They bring a full portion of filling with only about five tortilla chips, which makes no sense. Overall, not a good experience and not a place I would return to. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Matsuyoi easily ranks as the best omakase experiences my partner and I have ever had. Beyond the incredible freshness and flavor of every course, what really sets this place apart is the attention to detail at every touchpoint of the guest experience. From the personalized welcome card to the intimate setting, the perfectly curated playlist, and the thoughtful gift at the end — everything feels intentional and beautifully executed. The chefs and staff are engaging, fun, and make you feel like you’re part of something special rather than just dining at a restaurant. We also did the wine pairing and every dish was mouthwatering to say the LEAST. The creativity of each bit, from the rolls to the soup to dessert and everything in between, made for a dining experience that had us anticipating what was next, but also savoring every moment and not wanting that course to end. We got to chat with our seat neighbors and truly had a wonderful time. Very different from a traditional Omakase experience in that regard as well. The speakeasy type setup also made it feel exclusive and like a premium experience. It just felt sexy and fun! If I lived in Miami, I’d come here a hundred times over. For now, it’s firmly on our must-visit list every time we’re back in the city. Truly unforgettable. Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
