This is a very special place to stay - especially if you are cycling the shimanami kaido. We booked this place as our half-way stay and we're so glad we did. The host is so kind (and very, very good English - it was very nice to chat!) and the house is stunning. We were very tired when we arrived and we were immediately welcomed. We showered and spent some time in the traditional dining area downstairs, which helped us unwind so much. Our traditional room was huge and we slept so well (I think that the comfy futon bed contributed much more to me not wanting get up than the prospect of getting back on the bike hah). We were greeted with the most wonderful traditional breakfast the next morning by the hosts, it was delicious and set us up for the day. If you get the chance, please, please stay here! Service: 5

On the Shiminami Kaido ride with two friends and this stay was both close to the route we were taking and was a breeze in terms of bike storage and check in / out. Miwa (?) greeted us in the backyard and helped us store our bikes, and the room was beautiful and spacious with antique art pieces. We had breakfast and dinner that honestly blew our minds - there’s nothing that I would change about the food we had here. Overall, Grandma’s Ryokan is a 10/10 stay ! Would come back again ! Matsuzaki Inn was the perfect place to stay for the last stop of the shimanami kaido cycle! It is a beautiful home, very traditional, clean and cozy. The host made us feel so well looked after, and recommended some local dinner spots which was amazing. We felt incredibly peaceful here.
