Food was okay, definitely nothing spectacular. My husband ordered his steak rare and it couldnt have been anymore well done, so we had to send it back. My steak has so much grizzle i couldnt enjoy it, cocktails were solid and service was wonderful. Patio is lovely, but the food was meh! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry your steaks didn’t meet expectations. We take this seriously. We’ve reviewed our grilling temperatures and meat trimming with the kitchen and will reinforce precise doneness and tenderness checks, as well as confirm with servers before service. We’re glad the cocktails, service, and patio were positives, and we’re committed to delivering a consistently high-quality meal across visits. If you decide to return, we’ll aim for a well-prepared steak and a seamless dining experience.

If you want classic Austin tex-mex vibes, this is it, and be ready for the noise that comes with it lol The service was great, food was top quality, flavors were milder than expected (except the salsa, that was just straight lava), but we didn't leave disappointed. Just glad they had a lunch menu so we didn't experiment at full price! The drinks were definitely worth their price though. I'm normally very sensitive to alcohol, but again the quality of ingredients in this restaurant are high so I was able to enjoy an after-volunteer drink with the girls and not have a tummy ache after :) We'd definitely come back for lunch and drinks and are happy to have tried an Austin classic! Price per person: $30–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section, Clearly labelled vegetarian dishes Dietary restrictions: They have a vegan bowl that's delicious and consistent!

Matt's El Rancho still offers top notch Tex-Mex food in a classic atmosphere, but it is way overpriced by any reasonable measure. $20 for a taco, a couple of enchiladas and beans is unconscionable imvso, never mind $12.50 for a "house margarita" (not a top shelf). El Rancho has unequivocally turned it's back on the cultural tradition of delicious, affordable Tex-Mex food for Austinites of all income levels...Matt Senior must be rolling over in his grave! The prices on today's menu are just plain greedy any way you look at it! Matt's "world famous asadero tacos" were tasty, and prepared with flavorful medium-rare beef tenderloin tips, but there was a bit too much sauteed onions and peppers in the tacos for my taste. Matt's remains an icon of Tex-Mex food in Austin, just don't come looking for cheap eats! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot

We are sorry to hear that you found our prices high. We strive to offer value in our menu items and will review our pricing structure to ensure it aligns with the quality of our dishes. Your feedback on the tacos is appreciated, and we will work on balancing the ingredients for a more enjoyable experience. Thank you for your continued support of our Tex-Mex cuisine.
