I'll admit it: I'm a fan of greasy dives. Sometimes, when you ignore the ambience and aren't super picky about just how sanitary the place is, you end up with a hidden gem. Maty's, while not even close to being the greasiest dive out there, is still definitely one of my hidden gems in the BF Homes area. Maty's makes much of its tapa, which it claims to be the best in all Parañaque. Well, it wasn't the best tapa I've ever had, but it was pretty tasty all the same. It isn't the super dry/near-desiccated type, as it is served with a generous amount of the oil it was cooked in. The -silog suffix to my order meant I got to enjoy the slightly runny fried egg (which I like, just in case you were wondering) and real garlic rice too (none of that plain-rice-sprinkled-with-garlic-chips business here). So, the taste test was passed. Serving size? Big enough. Price? Quite affordable (PhP70 for tapsilog, with extra egg or rice at P10 each). I am definitely heading back to this 24/7 joint; their pares is next on my list. The menu does contain a large number of -silogs, so I won't be running out of things to ear here in quite a while.
Tacky interior, unproofed menu board, food sucks, and lazy unprofessional crew. And I am not even talking about the instance the waitress handed me my barbecue order literally sans a serving plate.
