I only visited Hotel Maxim in Oradea for a meal at their restaurant, as part of a birthday outing. Unfortunately, the experience left a bit to be desired. Right from the start, the server informed us that several items—such as the strawberry and pineapple lemonades—were unavailable, along with a few other drinks. When I inquired about the type of cheese used in one of the pasta dishes, the server wasn’t able to provide an answer. But the most frustrating part was the confusion around the banana split. The server insisted it didn’t come with ice cream, despite the menu clearly stating otherwise. When the dish did arrive with ice cream, she claimed the menu “must’ve changed today,” which didn’t inspire much confidence. There was also a discrepancy between the menu description and the food itself: the seafood pasta was listed as a carbonara, but it was served with tomatoes—not what you’d expect from a traditional carbonara. Overall, the atmosphere was nice and the food itself was decent, but the service and inconsistencies in the menu detracted from the experience. 3 out of 5. Service: 3
